Harrigans’ Estate-Plan Gift to Help Support the Prep’s Continued Success
Irene Harrigan and Brian Harrigan ’72 are committed to ensuring that St. John’s Prep remains accessible to any qualified student. “A 1907 Society estate gift ensures our family’s total impact on the Prep is maximized and continues for future generations of St. John’s Prep students. It is important to us that anyone who wants to attend the Prep has the financial means to do so.”
For Brian, a current Trustee Emeritus who served nine years on the Board of Trustees, the 1907 Society is about gratitude and legacy. “My father was a post-grad member of the class of 1942, and my family wanted to honor him and our mother with a long-standing gift. He was a huge Prep fan who couldn’t contribute significantly during his lifetime. We wanted his connection to the Prep to endure. My siblings and I are able to remember him and our mother annually through contributions to our Harrigan Family Centennial Fund. Our additional 1907 Society estate gift ensures that Irene and I can further bolster the endowment, favorably impacting even more students for generations to come.”
Irene and Brian saw the opportunity to give a more substantial amount of support to St. John’s Prep over time by including the school in their estate planning. In a sea of choices to make, the Prep stood out as the place that would really benefit from their future support.
Brian credits the Prep for the discipline it taught him in the classroom, for the great athletic memories he cherishes, and, most important, for the friendships he still maintains with his classmates today. “Irene and I want to be part of the Prep’s story for a long time. We hope others in a similar position will consider doing the same by joining the 1907 Society, affirming their long-standing impact on the Prep’s continued success.”
